Meet Dr. Andrew Shy

Owner & Chiropractor at Health Wave Chiropractic

Chiropractic care should be about more than just getting adjusted. Dr. Andrew Shy founded Health Wave Chiropractic with a simple goal: to give people the personalized, comprehensive care they deserve while helping them get back to the things that matter most.

Why I Became a Chiropractor

It Started With a Passion for Movement

I've always been interested in how the human body moves and what allows people to perform at their best. My background in exercise science and collegiate athletics gave me an early appreciation for movement, strength, and taking care of your body.

As I continued my education and began working with patients, I realized how much more effective care can be when you take the time to understand the individual in front of you.

I opened Health Wave because I wanted to create a practice where patients don't feel like another appointment on a schedule. I wanted to be able to slow down, listen, assess the whole picture, and use the tools that actually make sense for that person.

Chiropractic Care

I don't believe every problem has the same solution. An adjustment may be an important part of someone's care, but sometimes the bigger picture involves mobility, muscle tension, strength, movement patterns, an old injury, or the demands of someone's lifestyle. That's why Health Wave combines chiropractic care with therapies, rehabilitation, movement assessment, and patient education. The goal is to understand what's going on and help you understand it too.

Education & Training

Always Learning. Always Improving.

Andrew believes good patient care requires continuing to learn. His education didn't stop when he graduated from chiropractic school, and he continues to pursue additional training that can benefit the patients he serves.

2023 – Present

Postgraduate Training

Andrew continues to invest in advanced clinical education while practicing. He has completed his dry needling certification and is currently pursuing his Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certification to further expand his work with athletes and golfers.

He remains committed to ongoing education and clinical growth, incorporating current techniques, technology, and research into patient care.

Doctor of Chiropractic 2020–2023

Palmer College of Chiropractic – Florida

Andrew graduated magna cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida campus, received an academic achievement award, and served as a clinical teaching assistant in the student clinic.

During chiropractic school, he immersed himself in additional learning through clubs, electives, community outreach, and volunteer opportunities. He also completed a preceptorship in Virginia focused on regenerative medicine cases, giving him additional clinical experience outside of the traditional chiropractic setting.

BS in Exercise Science

2015–2019

Shenandoah University

Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology while competing as a four-year starting member of Shenandoah University's lacrosse team.

His experience as a collegiate athlete, along with internships with physical therapists and chiropractors, helped shape his interest in human movement, rehabilitation, and patient care.

Why Health Wave?

"Because you deserve more than a quick adjustment and a handshake."

Health Wave was built around giving patients the time, attention, education, and variety of care they need to make meaningful progress.
